There is still a current disagreement between the Miami Heat and their big man, Chris Bosh with regards to the status of the latter about playing again in the NBA. NBA rumors claim that the Heat could trade or waive the big man and both parties will see a bitter end to their partnership.
Tom Ziller of SB Nation contends that the current impasse between Bosh and the Heat will be a problem for both sides. Bosh wants to play despite what the Miami team doctors told him and there is belief that the Heat wants Bosh to retire so they can have some relief on their salary cap if he medically retires.
Ziller explained three options on how the Heat-Bosh drama will end up. One is that Miami will end up buying out Bosh’s contract, second is that the Heat will trade Bosh and third is that a third party, or the NBA, will step in and find a compromise between the two parties.
Bosh also released a documentary, titled “Rebuilt” regarding his planned comeback and with the situation now public, the Heat and the NBA will be forced to make a decision soon.
The first episode of the documentary is called “Lost” and Bosh shared a story on how the Heat team doctors told him that his NBA career is done.
“The team doctors, they told me that my season’s over, my career is probably over, and yeah, this just happened, this is just how it is. I felt right away that I was written off. It was so just … you know, put it to [the] side, matter-of-factly. If a doctor tells me, ‘Hey, that’s it, this is how it is,’ and I don’t buy it, I think that I have the right to disagree with you,” Bosh said in the video.
“I know inside me I have a lot of talent and a lot of ability and … I have it, I know I have it. It wasn’t a matter of if I’m going to play again, but when. So I took the bull by the horns.”
The Heat will save some money against the salary cap if Bosh medically retires. They will gain some cap space in the 2017 free agency and this will help their rebuilding process. However, if Bosh wants to play, he has to convince doctors that he is not at risk by suiting up again for another NBA team.
The other option for the Heat is to trade Bosh. It’s going to be difficult because of his blood clot issues and his huge salary will pay the big man $75 million over the next three years.
Via ESPN’s Trade Checker, a Chris Bosh to Houston in exchange for Trevor Ariza, Corey Brewer and K.J. McDaniels works under NBA trade rules. These NBA rumors and speculations can only happen if the Rockets want to take the risk with Bosh and his injury issues.
