Rumors and speculations are now swirling around the Houston Rockets who are reportedly trading Patrick Beverley, Sam Dekker, and a future first-round pick for Nerlens Noel of the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Houston Rockets decided to break the James Harden-Dwight Howard tandem after having a disappointing playoff run last season. The dispute between the two superstars continued to affect the Rockets’ performance, which led them to let Howard go in the recent free agency.

Unfortunately, the Rockets failed to find his replacement and there are speculations that they are still trying to find a quality center before the start of the season. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers currently have a crowded frontcourt with the arrival of Dario Saric, Joel Embiid, and Ben Simmons.

After seeing Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel play together, the Sixers decided to trade one of their centers. Last season, when Okafor and Noel were both on the floor, the Sixers were outscored by 20 points per 100 possessions. Both big men might have shown an impressive performance on both ends but they have no chemistry at all.

According to Zach Harper of CBS Sports, the Rockets could trade Patrick Beverley, Sam Dekker, and a future first-round pick for Nerlens Noel of Philadelphia 76ers. Noel will be a better acquisition that Okafor since he was not involved in any off the court issues.

Nerlens Noel will ease the pain of the departure of Dwight Howard, especially on the defensive end. Noel is not a ball dominant player which make him a better fit with a James Harden-led team. So far, Noel is cheaper than Okafor since he will become a free agent next summer.

For the Sixers, solving the logjam in their frontcourt while having a guard like Patrick Beverley and a protected first-round pick will be one of the best moves. With this, they can concentrate on Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor for the center position next season.

The Rockets are desperately in need of a quality center and there is no surprise if they will proceed with the deal. If this trade rumor happens, it will help both teams in filling up the needs to improve on their roster.
