Rumors and speculations are swirling around the Indiana Pacers who are reportedly trading Monta Ellis and Rodney Stuckey for Rudy Gay of the Sacramento Kings.
After falling short in the 2016 NBA playoffs, the Indiana Pacers decided to undergo a rebuilding process this offseason. The Pacers made their first move by firing head coach Frank Vogel and replacing him with Nate Millan. Also, the team has made a major upgrade to their roster to be a more competitive team next season.
The Indiana Pacers succeeded in upgrading their roster this offseason. They acquired point guard Jeff Teague, center Al Jefferson and forward Thaddeus Young. All players have the ability to be starters and help Paul George carry the team next season.
However, there are speculations that the Indiana Pacers are not yet done in upgrading their roster. According to Sactown Royalty, the Pacers are interested in Rudy Gay of the Sacramento Kings since the 2016 NBA draft.Rudy Gay has been involved in various trade rumors since the offseason started.
The 29-year-old small forward seemed to be disappointed with the Sacramento Kings’ offseason moves. Recalling in the recent NBA draft, Kings traded the 8th overall pick to Phoenix Suns for a package that included the 13th and 28th picks. The Kings selected 7-foot-1 Georgios Papagiannis and 6-foot-11 Skal Labissiere.
The Kings should build around DeMarcus Cousins. Many were expecting that they were going to select players who have the ability to bolster their backcourt. However, things happened the opposite way.
“I have no idea,” he said about where the team is headed. “I suit up and give it my all. That’s all I can do in this situation, that’s all you can do. Go out there and play as much as you can. Obviously, we don’t have anything to really build on.
There are rumors that the Indiana Pacers are willing to trade Monta Ellis and Rodney Stuckey for Rudy Gay. This trade scenario works in the ‘ESPN Trade Machine’. Gay averaged 17.2 points and 6.5 rebounds last season. Gay might have flaws in both ends but Nate Millan will surely find a way to improve his performance.
Kings general manager Vlade Divac was reportedly targeting Monta Ellis in last year’s free agency. If Rudy Gay will demand a trade this summer, there is a possibility that the Pacers will be their trade partner. If the trade deal proceeds, this will help both teams in filling up the needs on their roster.
