NBA Rumors: J.R. Smith pissed at Cavs’ latest acquisition: Deal with Wolves, Nets now more likely

New NBA rumors claim that J.R. Smith could now be finally leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers after the team signed guard Toney Douglas to the team on Monday.

According to a social media post, Smith was “speechless” after the learning that the Cavs signed the free agent, who could be playing his minutes in Cleveland’s rotation in the new NBA season.

Smith had a mysterious message posted on Twitter on Monday.

It’s not confirmed if it’s a reaction to the Cavs signing Douglas but Smith is still at an impasse with his contract negotiations with Cleveland’s management. According to various NBA rumors, it’s known that Smith wants a $15 million per season contract and that it’s reportedly a long-term demand.

It’s likely to be at least three years since this is Smith’s first huge contract in his NBA career.

Recently, James criticized the Cavaliers for taking a long time in bringing back Smith, a vital piece in their championship run last season. The Cavs management said that they already gave a competitive offer to Smith, who has yet to finalize any deal.

The Cavaliers are already in training camp but is practicing for the new NBA season without J.R. Smith. The team, with head coach Tyron Lue is worried about chemistry problems if Smith can’t return before their first game later in October.
