The New York Knicks has agreed in principle with Jeff Hornacek to become their new head coach for the 2016-17 season. The latest NBA rumors suggest that Hornacek may be interested in bringing back Jeremy Lin to New York.
According to the New York Daily News, the former Phoenix Suns head coach has not been officially hired by the Knicks but both sides have agreed in principle on Thursday. An official announcement from the team is expected to be made anytime soon.
The hiring of Hornacek is a quite a surprise because he has no history with Knicks president Phil Jackson or his famed triangle offense. However, the front office has reportedly given him the freedom to use any offense he wants and the staff he needs.

On the other hand, the Knicks are now looking for a new starting point guard and a former Knick may be on his way back to the Big Apple. Ken Berger of CBS Sports noted in his report that Jeremy Lin is a very good option to sign this offseason following his best season since playing for New York in 2012.
“With the triangle out, the Knicks will need a traditional point guard. One rival executive suggested Thursday that the Hornacek hiring could pave the way for Linsanity Part II; Hornets point guard Jeremy Lin has a player option this summer in a massive free-agent market and is coming off his best season since leaving New York as a restricted free agent in 2012,” Berger wrote.
However, the 27-year-old player has expressed his interest in returning to the Charlotte Hornets next season. Lin insisted on several interviews that playing in Charlotte is the best experience he ever had in terms of an organizational standpoint.
