NBA Rumors: Jordan Clarkson shares a message for Luke Walton and the Filipino people

Jeremy Lin of the Charlotte Hornets and Jordan Clarkson of the Los Angeles Lakers as rumors are swirling that the two talented playmakers are opting out of their respective contracts as they are considered as underrated talents.

NBA rumors are now swirling around the Filipino-American guard Jordan Clarkson. Clarkson has been part of various rumors regarding which team he will play next season. He is set to become a restricted free agent and hoping to be back in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Lakers are now undergoing a rebuilding process with their new head coach Luke Walton. In a radio interview on Power 106 FM in Los Angeles, Jordan Clarkson shared how excited he was when the team officially announced that Walton will be their next coach.

“I think it’s dope,” Clarkson said of Walton’s system. “I think it fits us really well. We’ve got a lot of guys that can do a lot of things. Julius [Randle], D’Angelo [Russell], Larry Nance [Jr.], including myself. So I think it’s something we should definitely be excited for… We’re waiting for them to be done with so he can come and start working with us.”

The 2016-17 NBA season will be a tough challenge for the Los Angeles Lakers since it will be the start of the post-Kobe Bryant era. The next generation of the Lakers will be the one continuing the legacy and Jordan Clarkson is expected to be part of that team. Clarkson made a good impression among the Lakers management and fans in his first two years with the team. However, there are few individuals that criticize him for his poor-shooting performance and lack of aggressiveness in the defensive end.

The Lakers must be excited with their new head coach Luke Walton since he might be the answer in bringing back the team’s winning tradition. Walton is expected to implement a Golden State Warriors’ inspired offense to the Lakers. And now that he will be coaching a team without superstars like Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, he has now the chance to prove how effective he is as a coach.

On the same interview, Jordan Clarkson also shared a message for the Filipino people and said that he will do his best to make them proud.

“They just show so much love to the sport, and I just do my best to make them proud.”

Clarkson will not be joining the Gilas Philippine Team in the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in the Philippines wherein they are expected to face tough teams including the Tony Parker-led France national team.
