Kevin Durant will take free agency meetings in Los Angeles where he owns a house before making his impending free agency decision. The Golden State Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs are reportedly interested in Durant.
The Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star has revealed that he wants to meet selected rival teams. Earlier Durant had considered holding meetings in New York to hear free agent proposals. The same source also confirmed that Durant may land in Golden State if he leaves Oklahoma in free agency.
The Thunder management is confident of re-signing their All-Star in a plus-one max contract this summer. Durant and Russell Westbrook led Thunder to the West Finals this season. Oklahoma bowed out to the Warriors blowing a 3-1 series lead. After the Warriors lost to Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals from a similar situation, the theory that Durant will sign for Golden State makes more sense, as reports the Real GM.
The Los Angeles Lakers and the Indiana Pacers are also pursuing Durant this summer. But Durant clarified that he would consider hearing free agent proposals from the Warriors’ and the Spurs’ representatives before making a final decision.
The Warriors after losing the NBA Finals will aggressively pursue the OKC All-Star in free agency, according to league sources. Durant is not Golden State’s only target, but their top priority this offseason.
Warriors’ owner Joe Lacob pointed out that his front office will have a busy time this summer without addressing Durant specifically so as not to violate the league rules.
“All I can say is that I will be very aggressive.” He said, according to the ESPN.
It looks like that the Spurs are lagging behind the Warriors in the race for acquiring Durant now. The 27-year-old star has repeatedly revealed that he wants to taste the NBA championship at this stage of his career.
