NBA Rumors: Kevin Durant sign and trade for Boston Celtics No. 3 pick? OKC Thunder star’s reps already talking to Cs

Days after the Oklahoma City Thunder got embarrassed by the Golden State Warriors, there are already NBA rumors that Kevin Durant’s representatives are already talking to the Boston Celtics, one of the teams that can offer the OKC star a maximum contract this 2016 offseason.

“I have this on pretty good authority: The Celtics have sat with his agent and other representatives of Durant. The Celtics do know — I don’t know who it is — but they do know who he would prefer to be brought here in a LeBron [James]-Chris Bosh-Dwyane Wade-like way. Because that’s how it works in the NBA. You need to know who the guy or guys that that guy wants, which would be a factor,” Butch Stearns via WEEI radio said on Monday morning.

Stearns is a sports journalist from Boston so he could be biased for the Celtics. However, the new NBA rumors comes after Isaiah Thomas, the starting point guard for the Boston Celtics, came out publicly recruiting Kevin Durant on Twitter before he deleted the tweet immediately.

In earlier interviews this month, Thomas admitted that he wants to be active in recruiting the top free agents this summer to help out general manager Danny Ainge. Durant is an unrestricted free agent in the 2016 offseason and the Thunder can lose him for nothing if he signs with another NBA team.

However, there is also a possibility that the Celtics and Thunder agree on a sign and trade that includes the No. 3 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft plus other players. This is the best deal for the Thunder so they don’t lose their star for nothing if free agency. For Kevin Durant, this also means he gets the most lucrative maximum contract with the Thunder before being shipped to Boston.

The new information will also add speculations to whom Durant wants to join him with the Celtics, which has the ability to sign another max player to join KD in Boston if he goes there.

NBA rumors has also linked Kevin Durant to the Los Angeles Lakers, Washington Wizards, Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs, among others as he is set to officially become a free agent on July 1.
