The New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls have been very active in the 2016 offseason and are involved in many NBA rumors. However, analysts believe that those moves won’t help them get a playoff spot.

The Bulls and Knicks, who were involved in trades with each other this summer, will both have new looks for the new season.

Despite the roster changes, ESPN predicted that Chicago and New York will only have 40 wins in the regular season and will finish outside the playoff picture next season.

Derrick Rose was dealt to the Knicks and will join former Bulls center Joakim Noah in New York. Knicks holdovers include Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis and they also added via free agency, Courtney Lee and Brandon Jennings.

The Bulls got Robin Lopez in the Derrick Rose trade. To replace him in the starting line-up, Chicago signed Rajon Rondo in free agency as well as former Miami Heat franchise player Dwyane Wade.

Jimmy Butler, who was involved in many NBA rumors since draft day, remains with the team and will be the main man on offense for the Bulls.

This is how the sports website predicted how the Eastern Conference will look like after the 2016-2017 NBA Season:

Eastern Conference predictions from ESPN:

1. Cavs – 57-25
2. Celtics – 51-31
3. Raptors – 51-31
4. Pistons – 45-37
5. Pacers – 45-37
6. Hawks – 44-38
7. Hornets – 43-49
8. Wizards – 41-41
9. Knicks – 40-42
10. Bulls – 40-42
11. Bucks – 39-43
12. Heat – 36-46
13. Magic – 35-47
14. Sixers – 20-62
15. Nets – 20-62

The defending champions Cavaliers are expected to once again rule the Eastern Conference led by LeBron James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving. Next in the rankings are the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors.

The Detroit Pistons, who ended up as the eight seed last season, will get a first round homecourt advantage according to the season prediction. The Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets and Washington Wizards complete the top 8 in the conference.

“The Knicks were the most improved team last season in terms of win-loss record, and now they’ve added former MVP Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah to the fold,” “the article states about New York’s chances next season.

“If healthy, our projections could short the Knicks. However, our panel knows that Rose has missed 244 games the past five seasons and Noah has missed 68 games the past two seasons,”

In recent days, Derrick Rose declared that the Knicks are one of the “super teams” in the league along with the Golden State Warriors.

It looks like ESPN does not agree with the injury-prone point guard and even had New York out of the playoff picture in their season prediction.
