Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant is set to retire from the NBA after the season but he could be holding off retirement from basketball after NBA rumors that a Chinese team is willing to give him a $35 million deal for a year if agrees to sign with a ballclub in the Chinese National Basketball League (NBL).

According to a report, an NBL franchise is trying to convince Kobe Bryant to play in their league and suggests that the Lakers star could be offered about $35 million for one season if Bryant decides to consider that option.

The same rumor stated that Gilbert Arenas, the former Washington Wizards and Golden State Warriors star, is also being lured into signing in the Asian basketball league.

The report adds that there is an increasing media attention in China for the NBL, which is seen as a secondary league to the main league in China, the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). And such media mileage will increase the financial capability of the league allowing them to chase NBA stars like Kobe Bryant and Gilbert Arenas.

An NBL official said, as translated from the report, that the NBL aims to become an “entertaining and exciting recreational league” and the luring Kobe Bryant and Gilbert Arenas will fulfill that vision.
