The reigning NFL MVP Cam Newton still rates LeBron James higher than the first unanimously selected NBA MVP Stephen Curry. Newton is a close friend of both James and Curry.

LeBron James led the Cavs to bounce back in the Game 3 of the NBA Finals against Curry’s Warriors. The Warriors lead the seven-game series 2-1.

And the Carolina Panthers quarterback decided to take a different approach in a radio show and offered a story. One needs to remember that the NBA MVP, not James, is a noted Panthers fan.

“A person asked me, ‘Well, is Steph Curry the best basketball player on the planet?'” Newton said, according to the ESPN. “I said, ‘No.’ I said, ‘Steph Curry is the best basketball player on the best team on the planet.’

“I still think LeBron is the best player. He’s 6-7, athletic, can do anything on the court. But LeBron is not on the best team. Going back to what I was saying, the power of team will always be better than the power of skill.”

Newton sounded realistic when asked whether he could beat Curry in one-on-one.

“The competitive Cam? Absolutely!” Newton said. “The realistic Cam says no way.”

Well, LeBron James has answered to Michael Jordan’s call in Game three by beating the Warriors. Will Newton’s analysis inspire him to level the series in Game 4? Experts predict Golden States victory in this NBA Finals. Can LeBron James guide the Cavs to turn the odds in their favor?
