Before the 2015-16 NBA season ended for the Lakers, Nick Young, and D’Angelo Russell were wrapped up in a scandal that dominated the headlines. Russell accidentally leaked a video of Young resulting for an awkward relationship between the two players.

In the middle of this, rumors circulated that Nick Young will either be waived or traded before the start of the 2016-17 NBA season. The 31-year-old small forward continued to be part of the headlines in various issues with his ex-girlfriend, Iggy Azalea.

With the hope of a possible return next season, Nick Young confronted Lakers new head coach Luke Walton. Mark Medina of Los Angeles Daily News revealed that Young had a conversation with Walton and said that his career with the Lakers is not yet over.

“It’s a breath of fresh air for me,” Young said of Walton, who spent the past two seasons as a Golden State Warriors assistant. “Luke is a big-time coach and came from a championship team. I think I have the tools that we can use as a shooter.”

As the new head coach of Los Angeles Lakers, Luke Walton is expected to execute the same system they used in the Golden State Warriors. With the ‘small-ball’ offense, the Lakers need a threat in the three-point range.

Jordan Clarkson is currently working on improving his three-point shooting skills. Also, there are speculations that the Lakers are planning to use Brandon Ingram in the shooting guard position.

Despite having a good conversation with Walton, Nick Young revealed that his future is still uncertain with the Lakers. However, he is still hoping that the Lakers will reconsider him. Young is devoting this summer toward improving his skills and conditioning.

Also, Young said that he is trying to fix his relationship with D’Angelo Russell. So far, the Lakers value Russell more than Young. If they fail to fix their issue, it will not be a surprised if one of them will be traded and there is a higher possibility that it will be Nick Young.

“We’ll be able to work it out. We’ve already been working it out. It is what it is. I can’t be mad forever.” Young said.

If Nick Young continues to improve his performance and managed to fix his relationship with D’Angelo Russell, there is no doubt that he will still be part of the Los Angeles Laker next season.
