NBA Rumors: Pau Gasol, Kyle Korver, OKC to decline next season, according to NBA expert

The Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs big man Pau Gasol and Atlanta Hawks shooter Kyle Korver are all expected to “decline” in the upcoming 2016-2017 NBA Season, according to latest analysis from a basketball expert.

Lang Green made the bold statement in his latest Basketball Insiders article stating that Gasol will end up with the “most pedestrian numbers of his career” and that Korver will
“never get back to the level he was” in 2015, when he was an All-Star.

Gasol has played the previous two seasons with the Chicago Bulls. Even at 36 years old, he was able to average 16.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.0 blocks per game. Meanwhile, Korver’s numbers were down last year, averaging just 9.2 points per game on 39.9% shooting from the three-point area.

Gasol was involved in many NBA rumors during the 2016 offseason but decided to go with the veteran Spurs to have a shot at another NBA title.

Green claims that with a team-friendly system at San Antonio, Gasol will not be able to duplicate his numbers with the Bulls last season. The Spurs are known for their team play and will feature LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard on offense, which means lesser touches for the Spanish big man.

The Hawks will be losing two key starters in Al Horford and Jeff Teague who are now part of East rivals Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers, respectively. Without their top two players and replaced by Dwight Howard and Dennis Schroder in the starting line-up, Korver is expected to struggle in his role in the offense.

Meanwhile, the team expected to struggle are the Oklahoma City Thunder, because they lost their best player in superstar forward Kevin Durant in 2016 free agency. Green claims that OKC will have enough to challenge for a playoff spot but they are not real contenders in the Western Conference like in previous seasons.
