Rumors and speculations are now swirling around the Brooklyn Nets who are reportedly interested in acquiring Rudy Gay of the Sacramento Kings.

The Brooklyn Nets decided to undergo a rebuilding process this offseason. The Nets traded Thaddeus Young in the NBA draft night to the Indiana Pacers for the 20th overall pick (Caris Levert) and a future second-round pick.

In the recent free agency, Jeremy Lin and coach Kenny Atkinson reunited in Brooklyn. There were speculations that the Nets are bringing ‘Linsanity’ in New York for the second time. The Asian-American guard will now be having a longer playing time as he is projected to be the starting point guard of the Nets.

There are rumors circulating that the Brooklyn Nets are still planning to add another talented veteran on their team – Sacramento Kings’ Rudy Gay. The 30-year-old small forward has been involved in various trade rumors in the past months.

The Kings are reportedly trying to move Rudy Gay this offseason. However, it seems like the Kings were having a hard time because of his expensive and soon-to-expire contract. Tyler Dencker of Nothin But Nets suggested for the Brooklyn Nets to trade for Gay.

Despite his age, Gay can still play solid basketball and is a proven scorer on his team. Last season, he averaged 17 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, all while shooting 46.3% from the field.

“If the Nets were to trade Bogdanović and a second-round pick for Gay, it would give the Kings a young small forward to potentially replace Gay’s position in the long run. Bogdanovic was selected 31st overall in the 2011 draft and has potential, which would intrigue the Kings.” Dencker wrote.

However, the Kings currently need to add some players to their backcourt. In this scenario, the Nets could possibly engage a third team that can address the Kings’ need of point guard – Ricky Rubio of Minnesota Timberwolves.

The trade scenario will be – Rudy Gay to Nets, Ricky Rubio to Kings, and Bojan Bogdanovic to Timberwolves. This works in the ESPN Trade Machine. If the deal proceeds, it will definitely help the teams in filling up the areas to improve on their roster.
