The Philadelphia 76ers have been desperate to trade at least one of their big men this offseason. The arrival of Joel Embiid created a logjam in the Sixers’ frontcourt, forcing them to move either Jahlil Okafor or Nerlens Noel.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been involved in various trade rumors this offseason, mostly including their big men Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor. Despite having lots of offer from other NBA teams, the Sixers are not yet finding the right trade partner to let go one of their big men.

In the NBA draft night, the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers were reportedly having trade talks involving Jahlil Okafor and the No. 3 overall pick. Aside from Ben Simmons, the Sixers were targeting Providence point guard Kris Dunn in the NBA draft.
Unfortunately, the traded deal did not proceed, resulting for the Celtics to select Jaylen Brown. There were speculations that the Sixers were asking for more trade assets from the Celtics aside from the third overall pick. However, the Celtics were adamant to give more than what they could offer.
Josh Wilson of The Sixer Sense revealed that the Philadelphia 76ers and the Atlanta Hawks were supposed to have a deal involving Jeff Teague and Nerlens Noel. However, the trade never happened for the same reason. Sixers general manager said that they are not trading their big men just to make a deal.
This means that the Sixers are trying to get quality players and future draft pick in exchange for their big men. Are their big men worth that much?
“I’m not trying to say that the Sixers will be forever unable to get a good deal for their big men, but Bryan Colangelo is overvaluing the big men now so that they don’t get cheated on a deal.” Wilson wrote.
Josh Wilson compared the same scenario with the Milwaukee Bucks wherein they are trying to move their veteran center Greg Monroe. Monroe can still be considered a solid center. He averaged 15.3 points and 8.8 rebounds last season.
However, the Bucks are still finding it hard to get a great deal. Monroe’s current statistics is almost comparable to Jahlil Okafor. Instead of overvaluing their big men, the Philadelphia 76ers should find a deal they can use to upgrade their roster.
The Sixers are currently in need to bolster their backcourt. Trading either Jahlil Okafor or Nerlens Noel for a quality guard will help them improve their roster and become a more competitive team next season.
