Rumors and speculations are now swirling around the Atlanta Hawks and the Philadelphia 76ers who are reported to be nearing to close the trade deal between Nerlens Noel and Jeff Teague.

The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the struggling teams in the NBA. Though they have promising and young talents, it seems to be not enough to make them a more competitive team in the league. The Sixers only finished with a record of 10-72 in the 2015-16 NBA season which was basically a sign that they should make a huge adjustment in their roster.

On the other hand, the Atlanta Hawks are one of the tough teams in the league now. They managed to enter the playoffs in the recent season but fell short against the Cleveland Cavaliers. With this, they are also planning to build a better team to achieve a higher level next season.

According to Chams Charania of The Vertical, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Philadelphia 76ers are discussing a possible trade between Jeff Teague and Nerlens Noel. Noel became a center of trade rumors when reports started to spread about him and Jahlil Okafor. Chad Ford of ESPN stated that Okafor and Noel were having a hard time finding chemistry every game resulting in poor game performance.

“I think that there’s a very high likelihood, that whether it’s to move up in the draft or use them to grab a free agent in a sign and trade or just to a trade, that you will not see the Nerlens Noel-Jahlil Okafor pairing at the start of next season,” said Ford. “I think that they’ll gauge the interest of both players. I think that there might be a slight preference for Noel, to keep him around with the Sixers, and I think you might be right, there might be a slight, better value for Okafor out on the market, but I think everyone agrees that that combination of those two players doesn’t necessarily work.”

The Philadelphia 76ers have long been looking for a high-end quality point guard. Since Al Horford will become a free agent in July, there is a higher possibility that the Atlanta Hawks will pursue Nerlens Noel. The 6-foot-11 center can be a good asset with the Hawks. He can either be the replacement for Horford or be a backup center once the Hawks succeed to re-sign Horford in free agency.

With the possibility of acquisition of Ben Simmons in the 2016 NBA draft, the Philadelphia 76ers should pursue getting Jeff Teague to have a quality point guard for their team next season.
