The Philadelphia 76ers own the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NBA draft and are likely to select Ben Simmons. The franchise is also eyeing to trade Jahlil Okafor or Nerlens Noel to acquire a top five pick or a point guard this summer.
Between Okafor and Noel, who has more trade value this offseason? The Sixers are eyeing to land the third overall pick, which is owned by the Boston Celtics by trading Okafor. But ESPN’s Chad Ford has slightly different opinion regarding this trade’s future.
The Sixers were considering Okafor as their most valuable piece in the trade market.
“I think that the Sixers and I both believed that the most valuable asset they had other than the No. 1 pick was [Jahlil] Okafor. I think that now, several weeks of gauging that interest around the league has led them to the conclusion that he might not be as valuable as they once thought.” Chad Ford wrote, as noted by SB Nation.
And Ford points out that Nerlens Noel will draw attract more interest this summer than Okafor by virtue of his ability to defend multiple positions, his shot-blocking and ability to finish on the break.
The Sixers are looking for a top five pick or a young point guard to complement Ben Simmons. But according to a report published in Philadelphia Inquirer, the Sixers are more interested to deal Okafor.
