Bryan Colangelo, the new general manager for the Philadelphia 76ers, admitted that there is interest around the league for their big men Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor. Philadelphia’s big men has been involved in some NBA rumors at the early part of the 2016 offseason.
“I don’t know that there’s a likelihood. I can’t put a number on it. I would just simply tell you that there’s been conversations and there’s been a lot of interest expressed in some of the players that we have, but nothing that’s made enough sense to pull the trigger on. We’ve talked about the five position in particular,” Colangelo said via NBA.com.
Noel has been reported to be going to the Atlanta Hawks for point guard Jeff Teague. While Okafor has been in NBA rumors linking him to the Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers, among others.
Colangelo was also asked about the possibility of Philadelphia trading the No. 1 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.
“It hasn’t been in any realistic conversation. There’s been a few people that have inquired. As I’ve said before, you never say never in this business. But I would still say it’s highly unlikely that the pick is in play in a deal, given the nature of this draft. I’ve always said you never say never, but I can’t imagine a deal coming forward that would stop us from making that selection,” Colangelo added.
The 76ers are reportedly keen on taking Ben Simmons as the top overall pick in the draft. But there are also NBA rumors that they could trade away their No. 1 pick if they get an established veteran superstar in the trade market.
