Stephen Curry might have Kevin Durant in the new season but last season’s finals loss is still fresh in his mind, the Golden State Warriors point guard admitted in a recent interview. This will spark NBA rumors that Curry is now scared of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers if they meet again in the NBA Finals.
“I still haven’t gotten over Game 7. That’s something that will stay with me pretty much forever, for good and bad reasons. Obviously you hated the feeling, but it’s also a motivator to come back even stronger and try not to have that feeling again,” Curry said to USA Today Sports.
Curry had a terrible time against LeBron James and the Cavaliers’ defense in the NBA Finals, where the Cavaliers lost the final game after leading the best-of-seven series, 3-1.
The Warriors’ collapse gave the Cavaliers their first franchise title and the Warriors could not get the back-to-back championships, which could have started a Golden State dynasty.
“I’m at that point now where I can try to fuel any kind of terrible nightmares or thoughts about Game 7 into motivation for how I’m going to prepare myself for this year,” Curry added.
Stephen Curry will have big help with Durant coming over in free agency after leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder, which gave Curry and the Warriors a hard time in the Western Conference Finals.
Curry will also have other stars in the team in Draymond Green and Klay Thompson plus veterans Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston. They also acquired this offseason role players Zaza Pachulia and David West.
However, by admitting that he still has nightmares about the Game 7 loss to the Cavaliers the new season will be filled with NBA rumors that Stephen Curry is scared of LeBron James.
