There is a growing concern with the Sacramento Kings that they are losing DeMarcus Cousins when he hits free agency two years from now. Trading Cousins now, that he still has a maximum value, could solve that worry in Sacramento if they can send the big man to the highest bidder before the trade deadline in the 2016-2017 NBA Season.
The Kings are in rebuilding mode even with the arrival of promising head coach Dave Joerger. The mentor can maximize Cousins’ talents in the upcoming season and even make him an MVP-candidate, but Sacramento doesn’t just have enough to contend with the likes of the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs, projected to rule the Western Conference once again.
According to wild rumors, DeMarcus Cousins could land with two top contenders for the title this season, the Warriors or the Cleveland Cavaliers. Even the Boston Celtics, which has the most trade assets to offer to Sacramento, are still interested in acquiring the Kings superstar.
Golden State will now be led by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Kevin Durant, who comes over from previous West contender Oklahoma City Thunder.
Would the Warriors be willing to give up one of their core players to land Cousins now that they have superstar KD in the line-up? Giving up one of Green or Thompson could be enough (the Warriors will have to add future first round picks) to get Cousins from Sacramento, which will be looking for superstars in exchange for their franchise big man.
Via ESPN’s Trade Checker, a DeMarcus Cousins for Klay Thompson or Draymond Green straight-up trade works.
Cleveland will also be returning with the same core from their champion team. But Kevin Love has been mentioned many times in NBA rumors and landing Cousins to play alongside LeBron James and Kyrie Irving could be hard to pass up for the defending champions.
A Kevin Love for DeMarcus Cousins straight up trade also works via the trade checker. The Cavaliers could sweeten the deal by sending a first round pick to Sacramento.
Are the Warriors and Cavaliers satisfied with their current line-up? Or would landing a DeMarcus Cousins be too good to pass up for both title contenders?
