The Golden State Warriors and the San Antonio Spurs are expected to pursue Kevin Durant in free agency. But the high profile teams of the West are perhaps not his ideal landing spot, feel some experts.

The Indiana Pacers will also be pursuing Durant this summer. Larry Bird and the Pacers are going to make a big move this summer. Durant has been linked with Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks regarding his impending free agency move.

Why should Kevin Durant consider signing for the Pacers?

Paul George is at the peak of his career. And if one considers Durant combining with him in the Indiana roster, the Pacers instantly become championship contenders.

Durant and his partner Russell Westbrook almost led Oklahoma to the NBA finals this season. They bowed out to the Warriors in seven games in the West Finals blowing a 3-1 lead.

Durant has developed similar bonding with George while they played together for USA Basketball, according to a report by Evan Massey of the Forbes. This would help him to lead the Pacers to attain new heights. Myles Turner is another promising star in the Pacers’ roster and he too shares a cordial relationship with Durant.

Moreover, landing in the Eastern Conference would also make the path to the NBA Finals much easier for Durant. At this stage of his career, the former MVP has repeatedly said that he wants to taste the NBA title. LeBron James’ achievement with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday should also inspire Durant to consider a move to East.
