In the latest NBA rumors, the Washington Wizards are expected to fire Randy Wittman as head coach at the end of a disappointing 2015-2016 NBA Season, where the Wizards have struggled for the most part getting eliminated after making the playoffs last season. Struggling this year, the Wizards might also have lost the chance to sign Kevin Durant in the upcoming offseason.

Brian Windhorst, an NBA reporter for ESPN, claims that the Wittman is gone from the Wizards with a 99 percent chance of the NBA rumor becoming true when the current NBA season is over.

“I mean, look, Randy’s probably 99 percent certain he’s going to be fired on Thursday morning. There were people who legitimately made the case that the Wizards would have finished with the No. 2 record in the East this year and that they had all of the weapons required to go to the Eastern finals and make a run,” Windhorst said earlier this week via ESPN radio’s ESPN 980.

Windhorst admitted that injuries were a factor in the Wizards’ failed season but said that Washington’s failure to improve on both ends of the floor was the more telling reason why the Wizards won’t be playing in the upcoming 2016 NBA Playoffs.

“Granted, they had so many injuries — for a while, I think three-quarters of the way through the season they had the most games missed — but their complete collapse defensively and their inability to execute despite really having a lot of weapons at their disposal was just embarrassing. A lost season, not only because of the [Kevin] Durant thing,” Windhorst added.

The 27-year-old Durant is the top free agent this upcoming 2016 offseason and the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar has been linked to Washington because he was born in Washington, D.C. If Durant signs with the Wizards, it’s another homecoming story in the NBA like what LeBron James did when he returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers in previous years.

In some NBA rumors earlier this year, Durant has reportedly said that he will only consider signing with teams which has a chance at the NBA title. The Wizards, with their current unstable situation in the coaching position and roster problems, appear to be a team that needs to make major changes in the offseason to become a title contender.
