The Chicago Bulls and Sacramento Kings have discussed a possible trade involving big man Pau Gasol a day before the trade deadline this year.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports the Kings would be receiving Gasol and guard Tony Snell in exchange for Kosta Koufus and Ben McLemore who will go to the Bulls. Sacramento also owes Chicago a future draft pick and “lowering the protection” of the pick is crucial for this Bulls-Kings trade to happen.
Earlier in the week, there were multiple reports that the Bulls have placed Gasol, who is an NBA All-Star this season, on the trading block. Gasol is expected to become a free agent after the 2015-2016 NBA Season and the Bulls are shopping him aggressively so they can get some players in return rather than lose him for nothing in free agency.
The Kings are battling for a playoff spot in the Western Conference with 22 wins against 31 losses so far this season. They are in 10th place in the West but a DeMarcus Cousins and Gasol frontcourt could help the squad in reaching the postseason.
The Bulls have 27 wins against 25 losses this season and are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference. However, they are not seen as serious contenders in the East especially with the recent injury to star guard Jimmy Butler.
Another team mentioned in Pau Gasol rumors are the New York Knicks who are reportedly willing to give up Robin Lopez and Kyle O’Quinn in exchange for the Spanish big man.
Gasol averages 17.0 points and 10.9 rebounds this season. Koufus averages 6.8 rebounds and 5.7 rebounds while McLemore logs 7.7 points and 2.1 rebounds.
