Carmelo Anthony trade rumors will continue to surface until the New York Knicks star finds a new home in the upcoming offseason. The latest NBA rumor suggests Anthony heading to the Miami Heat for Justise Winslow and Josh McRoberts.
After the Knicks suffered another disappointing season, president Phil Jackson will be more aggressive in moving Anthony this summer. The 10-time NBA All-Star is willing to waive his no-trade clause provided that he’ll be sent to a “winning team.” Several NBA teams are heading to the 2017 offseason with the goal of adding a superstar on their team.
NBA Trade Rumors: Carmelo Anthony to Miami Heat
Tommy Beer of Basketball Insiders created a trade scenario that will send Carmelo Anthony to the Miami Heat. In the suggested trade scenario, the Heat will send Justise Winslow and Josh McRoberts to the New York Knicks for Anthony. However, this will only be possible if the Heat succeed to remove Chris Bosh’s salary from the book and McRoberts exercises his $6 million player option for the 2017-18 NBA season.
After losing all their “Big Three”, the Heat struggled earlier this season and projected to be one of the disappointing teams. However, they managed to establish an impressive performance in the second half of the season and almost earned a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Goran Dragic and Hassan Whiteside showed their capability to lead the Heat but they obviously need a more experienced leader on the team.
Carmelo Anthony will be a great addition to the Heat. At 32, the 6-foot-8 small forward remains productive, averaging 22.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game this season. As Beer notes, sending Anthony to Miami for Winslow and McRobert is a no-brainer for the Knicks. Acquiring a superstar without sacrificing either Dragic or Whiteside would also be a perfect scenario for the Heat.
Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade reunion in Miami?
If the Heat trade for Anthony, Dwyane Wade will have more reason to return to Miami. Wade has a player option on his Chicago Bulls contract where he could become a free agent this summer. Wade and Anthony are part of the famous “Banana Boat Crew” who dreamt of playing together in the future.
Barry Jackson of Miami Herald recently revealed that Wade will consider returning to the Heat at some point in his career. However, if he’s serious in heading back to South Beach, Wade will need to take a pay cut and accept a lesser role on the team.
