Anthony Davis’ talent is being wasted with the New Orleans Pelicans, who has only appeared in one postseason even with one of the best players in the league. NBA trade rumors of Philadelphia 76ers forward Nerlens Noel joining Davis in the Pelicans frontcourt should be a good start on how New Orleans can start contending in the Western Conference.
Zach Harper of CBS Sports examined the situation with the Sixers and suggested some trades that help the team get a more balanced roster. Philadelphia management has admitted early in the offseason that they are not keen on brining in the current group for the new NBA season but that they want to get wingmen or guards to have a more complete roster.
Harper claims that a Pelicans-Sixers trade involving Tyreke Evans Quincy Pondexter and a 2017 first round pick (to Philadelphia) and Nerlens Noel (to New Orleans) would be good for both sides.

“If you’re the Pelicans, who don’t exactly mind giving away first-round picks in trades, you do this for one pretty obvious reason: Pairing Noel with Anthony Davis probably gives them the most menacing defensive front court in the NBA,” Harper wrote.
“That kind of length and timing between Noel and Davis as the 4-5 combination is the stuff top-defensive dreams are made of.”
Harper wondered about the value of Noel if they see him as a special player or if he’s already worth a mid-round future first round pick being given up by the Pelicans in this deal.
Pairing Noel with Anthony Davis in the Pelicans frontcourt makes sense this this will become one of the most athletic and scary defensive duos in the league.
Harper notes other teams that can be interested in Noel with trade proposals for other teams like the Minnesota Timberwolves, who will give up Ricky Rubio and the Boston Celtics, who will give up Marcus Smart.
Nerlens Noel still has value for Philadelphia that they are expected to explore all trade offers mentioned in NBA trade rumors first before settling for a deal. However, the Sixers just have too many big men in their line-up, the team to have the best offer of a starting guard or a valued first rounder is likely to acquire Noel before the NBA season begins.
