NBA trade rumors and speculations continue to swirl around the Indiana Pacers who are reportedly trading Paul George in the upcoming offseason. Despite the rumors linking him to the Los Angeles Lakers, an NBA analyst believes that the Miami Heat will be the perfect trade destination for George.
The Heat entered the 2016-17 NBA season without all their “Big Three”. Dwyane Wade left last free agency to join the Chicago Bulls while Chris Bosh remains sidelined due to blood clot issues. Earlier this season, the Heat felt the absence of the two superstars as they struggled to win most of their games.
To everyone’s surprise, they managed to bounce back and almost earn a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Heat president Pat Riley revealed his plan to pursue superstar free agents in the upcoming offseason. However, they may also take the trade route if a superstar becomes available on the market.
NBA Trade Rumors: Paul George to Miami Heat
LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers sweep Paul George and the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. With the Pacers failing to make a deep playoff run again, George’s potential departure in the upcoming offseason continues to be the center of controversy.
In the past months, George’s name has been frequently linked to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Pacers star reportedly wants to play for his hometown team. However, for FS1 NBA analyst Chris Broussard, joining the Lakers makes no sense for George since he aims to win an NBA championship title.
Instead of heading to the West, Broussard believes that George should stay in the Eastern Conference. He suggests several NBA teams which could be his trade destination this summer. Of all those teams, Broussard thinks the Miami Heat would be the perfect trade destination for George.
“I think, though: Miami. Best fit. You need to go somewhere where they know how to win. Where there’s a culture,” Broussard said.
Why should Paul George join the Miami Heat?
Even after losing their “Big Three”, the Heat still managed to compete against the powerhouse teams in the league. Having a good coach like Erik Spoelstra and teammates like Goran Dragic and Hassan Whiteside, Paul George will have a higher chance of winning an NBA championship title if he will be traded to Miami.
“There’s only a handful of teams that tend to win championships, and [the Heat] have got a coach. And obviously, you’ve got Pat Riley there. Look at when he was with Indiana, when they were a great team. They had a shot-blocker, Roy Hibbert. Now, you got Hassan Whiteside, who’s better than Roy Hibbert. You had a good point guard, George Hill. Goran Dragic? Not the defender that George Hill was, but certainly a better offensive player and playmaker,” Broussard added.
