The NBA had a lot of amazing plays for the year 2016. Here is SportsRageous’ list of the top 10 plays of the year featuring LeBron James and “The Block.”
10. Iggy with a little English on the ball and off the glass
This play is the circus shot of the year. Andre Iguodala recovered the ball on a fastbreak and attacked the rim. Russell Westbrook tried to bother his shot and fouled him but Iggy put a little English on the basketball to get the and-one.
9. Steven Adams gets revenge on Draymond Green
Draymond Green allegedly did not know he kicked Steven Adams on his private parts. Nevertheless, Adams got his sweet revenge by dunking all over Green in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals between the Warriors and Thunder.
8. Kyle Lowry ties Game 1 of the ECS with a Hail Mary from half court
Toronto Raptors star Kyle Lowry had a forgettable shooting night against the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. With the Heat leading 90-87 and the Raptors had no timeouts remaining, Lowry hit a buzzer-beating, Hail Mary from the half court to send the game to overtime. However, the Raptors went on to lose the game.
7. Russell Westbrook dagger dunk over the Rockets
“Brodie” has taken over the NBA this season by averaging a triple-double. The best play from Russell Westbrook this season so far is his dagger dunk against the Houston Rockets. The Thunder were up 103-100 with seven seconds left when Westbrook received the inbound pass and posterized Clint Capela to seal the win.
6. Zach LaVine puts Alex Len on a poster
The reigning two-time Slam Dunk champion has the dunk of the season so far. In a game against the Phoenix Suns last month, Zach LaVine put center Alex Len on a poster. It was a filthy dunk and Len probably learned his lesson.
5. Kyrie with Alley and LeBron with the Oop
The Cavaliers were down 0-2 when the 2016 NBA Finals went to Cleveland. The Cavs blow out the Warriors in Game 3 and it was capped off by an insane alley-oop by Kyrie Irving to LeBron James. “The King” had to extend himself in order to finish the nasty slam.
4. Kyrie Irving does it again
Kyrie Irving hit the game-winning shot in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. He did it again on the Christmas Day rematch in Cleveland. He hit the game-winning fadeaway shot over Klay Thompson to give the Cavaliers a 109-08 win.
3. Steph Curry from Way Downtown for the Win
In what was the best game of the 2015-16 NBA regular season, Stephen Curry hit a game-winning three in overtime. The crazy part of the play was it Curry shot it from way downtown, near the half-court line with a defender on his face while tying the NBA record for most three-pointers in the game with 12.
2. The Shot – Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals
Kyrie Irving was the definition of clutch as he hit the game-winning shot in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals. It was just under a minute left when he hit the shot over Stephen Curry. Although it won the title for the Cavaliers, it was not the best play of 2016.
1. The Block – Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals
The best play of 2016 belongs to LeBron James and it also happened in Game 7. In what is now known as “The Block,” James come racing in to reject Andre Iguodala’s layup to prevent the Warriors from taking the lead, and arguably changed the momentum of the game.
