Over the weekend, a controversial video of the USA Olympic Basketball team players Jimmy Butler and Kyrie Irving belting out Vanessa Carlton’s song, A Thousand Miles, became viral. Suffice it to say, it was nothing like the original, but what took the cake was fellow team USA player Carmelo Anthony’s reaction to the singing duo.
The video, posted by DeMar Derozan, showed the two NBA stars who tried their best to show their rendition of A Thousand Miles, singing and dancing to the song. KD also seemed to join in the fun, throwing a blanket over his head, but Carmelo, on the other hand, just looked like he was not in the mood.
Another song, by Bread, seems to say it all for the New York Knicks superstar.
Meanwhile, Vanessa Carlton took to twitter to let the NBA guys know what she thinks. Though seeming to side with Carmelo, she did complement the singing chops of Irving and Butler.
@carmeloanthony I get it. Though the boys did sound pretty good. x

Let’s also consider that Melo, who is 32, is the oldest player in the current US team, so let’s give the old man a break.
The video was recorded in-flight, with the team probably en route to their exhibition game against Nigeria in Houston. After the exhibition game, the team is expected to fly out to Rio, for the opening of the Olympics on Friday.
Team USA, has been the consistent and impenetrable force in Olympic and global basketball. Since competing in the 1936 Olympic games, the team logged in an insurmountable 130-5 record, while also earning fourteen gold medals, one silver medal and two bronze medals. The team will look to extend their 17 game winning streak in Rio, with their last loss dating all the way back to 2004, when they lost to Argentina.
The USA men’s basketball team will be in the Group A of the Olympics preliminaries and will go up against China in their first game on August 7.
