The Golden State Warriors dominated the Western Conference even without coach Steve Kerr, who’s currently recovering from an injury. Warriors general manager Bob Myers revealed Kerr hasn’t been ruled out for a postseason return but still remains questionable to coach in the NBA Finals.

“He’s doing everything but coaching. But at this point, he’s not able to coach,” Myers said. “I wish that I that could say that he was. I’m sure he wishes he could as well, but that’s where we are. If something changes and he feels better, I’ll sit here, or better, he would sit here and tell you. But right now, I can’t say that he’s going to be coaching.”

Warriors open for Steve Kerr return in the NBA Finals

Mike Brown served as the acting head coach while Steve Kerr remains sidelined. Despite Kerr’s absence, the Warriors show no sign of slowing down and swept every opponent they faced in the NBA Playoffs 2017. Brown said that he will coach the Warriors until the management tells him otherwise.

However, he made it clear that Kerr will be involved in all aspects of preparation for the NBA Finals. After undergoing a surgery to repair a spinal cord leak, Kerr revealed that he felt better at times but still experiencing a level of discomfort. Warriors general manager Bob Myers assured that Kerr can return whenever he’s ready to coach.

“I think anything’s an option,” Myers said. “This is unusual and I understand that. I want to know the answer to that too. But, some of this is a nuisance. This is not clear and concise. It’s a lot of gray area. It has been, even though Mike has won all of these games. There’s no right or wrong way to handle this short of looking in his eyes, [asking] how you’re feeling, how do you feel about doing it. We talk amongst ourselves, but I hope we have that chance to make that determination and that means he’s feeling better.”

NBA Finals 2017: Golden State Warriors vs Cleveland Cavaliers

After defeating the Boston Celtics in Game 5, the Cleveland Cavaliers will advance to the NBA Finals to face the Golden State Warriors for the third straight season. So far, the Warriors emerged as the top favorite to win the series with their  “Super Death Lineup.” However, Kerr’s absence will surely have a major effect on the upcoming match up. Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Warriors and the Cavaliers will be on June 1 at the Oracle Arena.
