Anthony Davis was completely dominant in the New Orleans Pelicans season opener against the Denver Nuggets. “The Brow” had 50 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists, 7 steals and 4 blocks on Wednesday night.
The Pelicans still lost the game, 107-102 at home, although New Orleans made a late rally that came up short.
Davis’ stat line remains impressive despite the loss and could be the best performance of all teams in their season openers this 2016-2017 NBA regular season.
The sad news for the Pelicans and their outlook for the season is that they still got the loss despite Davis’ dominant performance. This does not bode well for the team and a sign that the rest of the line-up is just not good enough to compete with other NBA teams like the Nuggets, one of the rebuilding teams in the league.
Aside from Davis, only Tim Frazier (15 points and 11 assists) had a good game for New Orleans.
Meanwhile, Denver negated Davis’ one of a kind performance with balanced scoring. Jusuf Nurkic had 23 points and 9 rebounds while Will Barton added 22 points. Danilo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler added 15 and 12 points, respectively.

New Orleans had some positives in this game. They trailed by double digits at halftime but had a chance to steal the game. Anthony Davis’ team cut the lead down to two points with over two minutes to go in the game but their rally just came up short.
