Student wins over teach in the final duel between future Hall of Famers LeBron James and Kobe Bryant on Thursday night at the Staples Center.
LeBron James has always played under the shadow of Kobe Bryant.
Similar to how Kobe played under the shadow of Michael Jordan in his early years, James had to endure 13 NBA seasons of being compared to The Black Mamba and even pitting the two together in a “dream” NBA finals matchup.
In what was their final match in the NBA, LeBron savored his final time on the floor with his childhood idol and took in a lesson or two from the teacher. However, it was James and the rest of the Cleveland Cavaliers that took home the victory, 120-108, on Thursday night.
James scored 24 points, but it was Bryant who took out one last vintage performance with 26 points on 11-for-16 shooting to make it one memorable night for the two hardwood titans.
The Cavaliers improve to 46-18 (won-lost) for the season and move up to 2 1/2 games ahead of Toronto, while the Lakers continue to slide at the bottom of the Pacific Division at 14-52.
