The Detroit Lions showed signs of life in their second quarter match against the Dallas Cowboys, but suddenly they faded. The Lions now look forward to hosting the Green Bay Packers next week with high stakes on the line.
According to Rob Demovsky, of ESPN, the Lions against the Packers are a fitting end to this year’s regular season. Demovsky writes that the match will be a “winner-take-all” with the division title and playoff game at home at stake. The match will be a spectacle as it goes in a prime time slot for everyone to see.
How the Lions do against the Cowboys
Many thought the Lions would just go down easily when they visited the Cowboys at the AT&T Stadium. But they showed resistance in the early goings of the game as they tied the match at 21-all at half-time.
However, the Lions simply faded away in the second half as the Cowboys just dazzled their way beating the visitors, 42-21. Had the Lions defeated the Cowboys, they could have an easy life facing the Packers as it would assure them already of a playoff spot. Now, they have to take the hard route which also sets up a historic match up.

For the Lions, winning the division would be their first since 1993 and their second playoff berth in three years. Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers said it would an exciting match against the Lions since their last meeting in Week 3.
“It’s a loud environment obviously over there in Detroit, we’ve won a lot of big games over there,” Rodgers said. “But Matt [Stafford]’s had a fantastic year, their defense definitely improved.”
With their loss to the Cowboys, the Lions are now tied with the Packers with the same 9-6 record. Thus, making their match next week exciting with the winner taking everything and leaving nothing.
What are the chances for the Packers?
For the Packers, they need to win against the Lions to keep their playoff run alive. It will not only give them the division title but also a home game advantage as well. Losing next week plus a win by the Redskins will see their playoff down the drain.
They do not even get a wild card spot as well. The Packers defeated the Lions in their first meeting this season and hope that they could make a repeat.
Before their much-awaited meeting with the Lions, the Packers are on a five-game winning streak. They hope they could cap it with a division title next week and secure a playoffs berth.
