49ers vs. Rams Preview

The Chip Kelly Era in San Francisco starts on Monday when his 49ers take on the Rams in their first game back as a team from Los Angeles. The former Philadelphia Eagles head coach named Blaine Gabbert starting quarterback in favor of the controversial Colin Kaepernick.

Gabbert is prone to making poor decisions but Kelly is confident about his choice. The 52-year-old coach praised his starter’s work ethic and athleticism in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.

“The one thing about Blaine is I think he’s got an outstanding work ethic. He obviously has the athleticism and the skill set to be a quarterback, but you continue to see him on a daily basis, how much film he studies, how much time he’s in this building, how much work he does on his craft,” Kelly said.

On the other hand, the Rams are starting Case Keenum with first overall pick Jared Goff as the third choice QB behind Sean Mannion. Los Angeles still has sensational running back Todd Gurley, who can make the defense of the 49ers work. The Rams also have defensive tackle Aaron Donald ready for Kelly’s offense.

49ers vs. Rams Prediction

These are two teams that are not strong enough on paper but it will be a good game to watch since they are bitter rivals. Expect the Rams to spoil Kelly’s debut for the 49ers, 24-18.
