The Denver Broncos are eagerly waiting for an announcement from Peyton Manning about his decision to stay or retire from the National Football League (NFL).
Manning has yet to make a decision but things could really get awkward for the Broncos if Manning decides to play in 2016.
The new league year begins on March 8. If Peyton is on the roster, then his $19 million salary for 2016 would become guaranteed. The Broncos might prefer bringing him back at a cheaper rate if he decides to return.
Larry Brown Sports reports that citing a source close to the team and Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk said that the team doesn’t want the 39-year-old Manning at “any price”.
The report also states that Denver Broncos are holding off talks with Brock Osweiler out of respect for Peyton. Broncos want Osweiler as their starting quarterback for the 2016 season.
According to Florio, negotiations have already begun and are being kept private.
After the AFC Championship game it was assumed that Peyton would be retiring.
