The receiver of Philadelphia Eagles, Josh Huff was arrested by the police for speeding while possessing firearms, namely a 9-mm handgun, without adequate documentation along with marijuana according to reports from CBS Philadelphia. Josh Huff was arrested with firearms and marijuana at the Walt Whitman Bridge connecting Philadelphia with New Jersey on the Jersey side.
In Philadelphia marijuana was decriminalized in 2014 and one may possess 30 grams of the drug legally. Sadly for Huff, though, the same does not hold true for New Jersey. So the news of Josh Huff arrested with firearms and marijuana spells trouble both for himself and his team.
According to TMZ.com, his “car reeked of marijuana — and when a cop asked him about the smell, Huff handed him a ‘tight vac’ container of ‘suspected marijuana.’ “
In a statement to USA Today Sports the representative of Eagles, Derek Boyko, “We are aware of the incident today involving Josh Huff. At this point, we are gathering more information.”
According to nydailynews.com, The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, which is in charge of the investigation was unavailable immediately for any sort of comment. However, the fact that Josh Huff was arrested with firearms and marijuana is more or less certain.
Huff now 25, had to face legal trouble with the law earlier too and has a history of driving in an intoxicated state. During his stint at Oregon, the football player, then aged 20 was caught driving without a license in an intoxicated state. Prosecutors charged him with being under the influence of marijuana. After being pulled over due to speeding, the player had failed a sobriety test and claimed that balance was his weak point. He also attributed his failure to the cold temperatures prevalent.
The news only serves to worsen the gloom at the Eagle’s camp affected by a bad season. Having played 7 games, Huff has 13 catches to his credit much to the delight of the supporters of Eagles, who has been suffering drops for last two years. Two weeks back he earned the honor of NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after returning a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown against the Vikings.
