After their historic meeting at Super Bowl 50, defending champion Denver Broncos and runner-up Carolina Panthers miss the playoffs. Both the Broncos and the Panthers still have their nucleus to bounce next season.
The Broncos had one chance to make it to the playoffs this season after finishing 8-7 in the AFC West. But that hope simply faded after getting blown away by the Kansas City Chiefs via 33-10. Meanwhile, the Panthers also held on of making it to the playoffs, but the Atlanta Falcons flush them out, 33-16.
According to NFL.com, both the Broncos and the Panthers still have their respective core going into the offseason. This could help both squads to bounce back for next season.
How did the Broncos season go
After Peyton Manning announced his retirement, the Broncos look to Trevor Siemian to take over at the helm. The Broncos went off to a good start at 4-0 with many seeing their return to the playoffs this season. However, Siemian could not sustain the Broncos’ offense as they suddenly faded away as the week’s progress by.
What kept them in the game was their defense, but injuries took its toll on the Broncos missing important players. The Broncos are hoping to get healthy for next season and hope that their offense would pick up. Coach Gary Kubiak hopes for a good pick in next year’s draft aside from getting Paxton Lynch ready as well.
The Broncos still have one more match to end the regular season and it is against the Oakland Raiders. They would not just hand the Broncos the win as they need to keep the gap with the Chiefs. And since they are already out of the playoffs, they could just spoil the party for the Raiders.
What about the Panthers?
Last season, the Panthers roared their way into the playoffs with 15 wins. But this year the Panthers could not seem to find their groove to make a repeat of their accomplishments. This season was also a disaster for Cam Newton as this season is his worst.

Newton could not simply find his rhythm against the defense of rival teams beating him and the Panthers. They simply just faded away to sport a 6-9 in the team standings. The Panthers could end their season if they could beat Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are also out for the playoffs.
The Panthers need to fix both their offense and defense this offseason to get back into contention next season. Aside from that, if they could select a reliable free agent during the offseason it would be an added asset. The Panthers need to think big going into the offseason and carefully choose from available free agents. Not to mention their possible pick in next year’s draft.
Both the Broncos and the Panthers bid farewell for a return to the playoffs this season. But for sure, both teams are coming back strong next season.
