When the Detroit Lions visit the Dallas Cowboys, they aim keeping their postseason hopes alive this season. Aside from that, the Lions want to get further breathing space to keep the Green Bay Packers at bay.

The Lions aim to keep their playoff run alive this season after losing to the New York Giants last week. Pressure also rests on their shoulders as the Packers continue to knock for a wild card berth as well. According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the Lions get two chances in barging into the playoffs.

The Lions would have less pressure if they get past the Cowboys this week. But would be satisfying to challenge the Packers next week with the division title on the line as well. Getting into the playoffs marks the Lions’ second in three seasons while taking the division would be their first.

Lions’ chances getting into the playoffs

Hunger motivates the Lions to prepare against the Cowboys and the Packers. Defensive end Kerry Hyder stated the excitement for their last two matches of the season. He added they are all excited to show how ready they are for this season.

“This is grind time,” Hyder said. “We know that the season’s coming down to these last two important games. You are just excited. It is kind of playoff atmosphere, a playoff-type game, so we are preparing for that.”

Though many doubt the Lions’ chances against the Cowboys, Coach Jim Caldwell says they just focus on the game. He added they would rather focus themselves in getting into the playoffs and not think about statistics about their chances.

“Our task is making certain our guys get themselves ready, ready to play a very good football team that’s hot. We should be on point and on our job,” Caldwell explained.

The Lions’ defense will make the difference for their task in stopping Dak Prescott and defending against Ezekiel Elliott. However, their offense must also make their work against the Cowboys’ defense in order for them to make this week.

How will the Cowboys respond?

The Cowboys already secured a playoff run, a division title, and home field advantage after taking a 12-2 tally. The Cowboys are not taking the Lions lightly as they continue their run until the end of the regular season.

According to Carl Daley/FanSided via The Landry Hat, there will be no slight changes to the Cowboys’ offense. However, the Cowboys want to close the regular season on a high note winning against the Lions, then the Eagles. Expect the Cowboys to use their regular starters with those with injuries more time to heal up for the playoffs.

The Lions surely knows the hard road they will take going into the playoffs. They must first deal with the Cowboys before they could set up a historic battle against the Packers next week.

Do the Lions have a chance getting past the Cowboys? Or will they set up a classic match against the Packers?
