Cincinnati Bengals Pwedewide receiver A.J. Green is likely out for the season with a torn hamstring, according to reports. Green was injured in their recent game against the Buffalo Bills and the bad news came in after that the tear was serious for one of the league’s leading receivers.
In the play, Green collided with Bills cornerback Stephon Gilmore. It was believed to be a hamstring injury when he was carted off the field. Post-game reports confirmed the serious tear and that he could miss the rest of the 2016 regular season.
Struggling Bengals lost top receiver
Green is the biggest name in Week 11 injuries with head coach Marvin Lewis confirming the hamstring injury after the game. Details about Green’s injury will be available soon but it looks like the bad news is coming for Cincinnati, which is starting to struggle this season.
The Bengals have lost four of their last six games and are losing ground in the battle for a playoff spot.
LaFell, Boyd to take over WR reps
Without Green, the Bengals will use Brandon LaFell and Tyler Boyd. Both LaFall and Boyd were used behind Green this season. Both are expected to get more reps with their main WR injured.
The Bengals can still make the postseason but needs to end the regular season better than their recent games. Cincinnati is coming off back-to-back losses to the New York Giants (21-20) and Buffalo Bills (16-12).
A.J. Green led the team with 964 receiving yards on 66 catches, which is also the second highest in the league. LaFell has caught 419 yards (33 catches) and Boyd has 349 yards (33 catches).
