The Philadelphia Eagles traded Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings two days ago and gave the starting quarterback job to rookie Carson Wentz. According to NFL rumors, the Eagles’ decision has reportedly put Chase Daniel in a bad mood, which could lead to speculations that he may want out from Philadelphia.
After the Sam Bradford trade, many observers assumed that the starting QB job will be handled by Daniel with Wentz reportedly listed as the No. 3 QB for the Eagles before the Bradford deal to Minnesota.
But things changed quickly in Philadelphia, which are now saying that they want to see Wentz as the No. 1 quarterback if he’s healthy in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns.
“Told same as @caplannfl: It’s the Carson Wentz show in Philly when he’s healthy. Source says Chase Daniel not happy,” Mike Garafolo of NFL Network tweeted about the Daniel’s situation in Philadelphia.
Garafolo clarified in the same post that “Daniel is disappointed [that] he won’t start” but is committed to helping the team prepare his rookie teammate.
“They weren’t going to do it this early had they kept Bradford. Circumstances changed,” Adam Caplan of ESPN stated about the Wentz starting for the Eagles.
The Bradford deal to Minnesota was big for the Eagles because they can now start developing Wentz, who was the second overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Daniel signed a three-year $21 million contract with the Eagles last March. That’s an expensive deal for a backup QB that’s why his name in NFL rumors of trades will be mentioned in the next few weeks.
The Denver Broncos are one of the teams that are reportedly interested in acquiring a quarterback. They are in NFL rumors of trying to get Colin Kaepernick from the San Francisco 49ers early in the offseason.
The Broncos, plus other teams, will come calling to Philadelphia about their plans for Chase Daniel.
