It seems the Dallas Cowboys are now having a change of heart as rumors are swirling that they are strongly considering signing in free agent Nick Foles after their backup quarterback Kellen Moore got injured in their training camp.
Moore suffered an ankle injury during the Cowboys’ practice Tuesday and reports have noted that it is still uncertain as to how long will Moore be out. With the situation, Tony Romo and rookie Dak Prescott are now the top quarterbacks that the Cowboys have. But with Romo’s health still in question, team President and General Manager Jerry Jones might consider looking for a suitable backup.
Jones had been vocal last week that they are not interested in getting Foles, who was released by the Los Angeles Rams. He noted that Foles is not an option for them as they have lots of quarterbacks that could give them the snaps that they need for the coming season. Now that Moore is out of the equation and Romo’s health in question, the Cowboys are looking at Prescott and Jameill Showers as their other options.
It is a fact that Foles had a not so glamorous stint with the Rams last season, but it does not totally sum up his potential as a quarterback. Back in 2013 Foles was one of the stars on the field as he had a total of 2,892 passing yards that translated to 27 touchdowns and two interceptions. It was also in that year that he had a 9.1 passing average.

With Moore’s recovery still uncertain, taking in Foles will be the best suit for the Cowboys. With Romo and Foles in their roster, it might not give them a shot at a Super Bowl spot but it will surely give them the stability they need.
Jones might as well take a look at their chances if they would want to gamble with Prescott as Romo’s backup or call Foles to report to training camp. The season has not yet started but the Cowboys are already being tested and if they would want to breeze through having Foles will surely not hurt their ego.
