Rams are being patient with Jared Goff as Case Keenum’s backup?
If other teams are a bit shaky with their quarterbacks, the Los Angeles Rams are extending patience with rookie Jared Goff. The Rams see potential in Goff as a backup to Case Keenum when the season starts.

The Los Angeles Rams had a forgettable Week 1 when they were shut out by the San Francisco 49ers, 28-0. According to the latest NFL rumors, fans are clamoring for the Rams to start first overall pick Jared Goff in their first game back in Los Angeles against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

LA starting quarterback Case Keenum had a very disastrous night going 17 of 35 for 130 yards with two interceptions. However, Rams head coach Jeff Fisher told the media that he is not replacing Keenum with Goff or even by backup QB Sean Mannion.

“I would have let Case finish it. This doesn’t change anything as far as quarterback is concerned. That is correct. I’ll adjust, but I expect it to continue,” Fisher said, via

NFL rumors in Los Angeles suggest that fans are getting worried about their first overall pick getting benched. However, Fisher added that he might make Jared Goff as the team’s backup against the Seahawks.

The 21-year-old first overall pick has been outshined by fellow rookie QBs Carson Wentz (second overall) and Dak Prescott (135th overall). According to Bleacher Report, some members of the coaching staff believe that the Rams might have had a chance to score against the 49ers if Goff was their backup.

Nevertheless, Fisher is sticking with Keenum for Week 2 but expect fans to make more noise if the Rams lose convincingly against Seattle. The team had to give up a lot for Jared Goff and it would be foolish for them to let him rot on the bench.

It should be noted that these are just NFL rumors at the moment and plans may change before Sunday’s game. The Rams will face the Seahawks at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum and it’s their first game back in Los Angeles since 1994.
