The San Diego Chargers and Joey Bosa can’t still agree to a contract as teams are already preparing for their preseason games. The explosive pass-rusher was a given as the third overall pick for the Chargers at the time of the 2016 NFL Draft. However, NFL rumors now has the defensive end possibly demanding a trade because of contract disputes.
The speculation was started by Bosa’s own mother, Cheryl Bosa, who posted on Facebook that she wishes his son’s camp “pulled an Eli Manning on draft day.”
“It bums me out for him so much. Wish we pulled an Eli Manning on draft day,” Cheryl Bosa posted on social media as a reply to a friend.
12 years ago, Eli Manning was the top pick and the Chargers had the No. 1 pick in the rookie draft. However, Manning forced his way out of San Diego and was traded to the New York Giants on draft day.
The rumors are that Bosa and the Chargers can’t agree to a deal and that the 21-year-old defensive end from Ohio State just wants a deal worthy of a third overall pick. Reports state that San Diego could be offering Bosa a reduced deal.
“The primary sticking points, according to the sources, continue to be: (1) whether the fully guaranteed contract will include offset language; and (2) whether Bosa’s signing bonus will be paid in full this year,” An article from Pro Football Talk explained the situation between Bosa and the Chargers.

“The team wants offset language and deferral of a significant portion of the signing bonus into 2017. At a time when many believe Bosa wants the exact opposite on both points, the truth is that Bosa’s representatives would accept one or the other: Offset language or full payment of the signing bonus in 2016.”
