Jared Goff and Carson Wentz are top targets for the Los Angeles Rams in the upcoming 2016 NFL Draft. The latest NFL rumors state that the Rams are making Goff their top priority but nothing is set in stone until the rookie selection starting April 8 and both quarterbacks are still in contention on who will be the top pick in this year’s draft.
The NFL rumors this week also state that both Goff and Wentz will meet with the Rams camp before the NFL Draft, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.
The Rams are now in good position to find their next franchise quarterback after acquiring the overall No. 1 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft with a trade with the Tennessee Titans earlier in April.
The Rams will be pressured not to make a mistake in their top selection as they gave up a lot of draft picks in the deal with the Titans.
With the franchise moving from St. Louise to Los Angeles, the Rams wanted to make some noise in the offseason sending their first round pick, two second picks, third round picks plus two more future draft picks to Tennessee in the biggest trade yet in this NFL break.
Jared Goff and Carson Wentz are projected to be the top pick in various NFL mock drafts. After the Rams pick first, the Cleveland Browns, who are also looking for a quarterback, and San Diego Chargers pick second and third. The Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars complete the top five teams picking in the 2016 NFL Draft.
CBS Sports and ESPN mock drafts has Wentz as the top overall pick. Goff should come in at second with free safety Jalen Ramsey, defensive end Joey Bosa, outside linebacker Myles Jack, offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and defensive end DeForest Buckner all in play for the top five, according to mocks and NFL rumors.
“Showing not only all of the physical talent scouts are looking for in a franchise quarterback but the leadership and composure as well, Wentz eased concerns about his level of competition at NDSU with stellar performances at the Senior Bowl, combine and his March 24 pro day,” CBS Sports reports about Wentz.
“With explosive weapons Todd Gurley and Tavon Austin already in place on offense and the NFL’s most ferocious defensive line, the Rams are only an improved passing game away from competing in the NFC West.”
Have the Rams made a decision yet on who to make the top pick in the 2016 NFL Draft? Getting one of Jared Goff or Carson Wentz could turn the franchise around and going either way will help the Los Angeles squad with NFL rumors claiming that the Rams are going for either quarterback.
