NFL Rumors: San Francisco 49ers to draft Jared Goff, moving on from Colin Kaepernick?

The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly working out NFL prospect Jared Goff, a quarterback from the California Golden Bears, on Wednesday with new 49ers head coach Chip Kelly very interested in the QB after attending Goff’s pro day at Cal weeks ago.

The 49ers, who own the seventh overall pick, currently have quarterbacks Colin Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert and the move will reopen NFL rumors that San Francisco is active on the trade front with regards to one of their quarterbacks.

Goff had a successful college career at Cal totaling 12,195 passing yards on 62.3% completion with 96 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in a three-year stint. He had a 161.2 QB rating in his final year and reports state that Goff’s decision making and speed is appealing to 49ers head coach Chip Kelly.

Colin Kaepernick has been involved in a lot of NFL rumors lately, particularly that the 49ers’ starting QB will be sent to the Denver Broncos. However, no deal has been made yet as the 49ers are reportedly asking for a high price for Kaepernick and the Broncos do not want to give up assets, which could include draft picks this year.
