The latest Tony Romo trade rumors are here. The Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans are reportedly the favorites to land Tony Romo, according to latest NFL rumors. The Dallas Cowboys have yet to announce their decision on Romo. But if he is released, there are already teams that have reportedly shown interest in signing the veteran quarterback..
Romo lost his job with the Cowboys starting quarterback spot. Rookie Dak Prescott took over as starter when Romo was injured in the preseason. Prescott played like a star in the regular season and led the team to one of the best records in the NFL.
Tony Romo definitely playing next season but not for Cowboys
According to Peter King of Sports Illustrated, Romo will play “somewhere in 2017” and not for Dallas. The NFL analyst state that Romo had an offer for an “off-field job” but that the quarterback did not take it, as he still wanted to play in the NFL.
Romo also wants to prove that he can still be a starting quarterback in the league. Romo is also reportedly very close with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his family. It’s likely that Dallas first consult Romo on which teams he wants to be traded to before making any trade.
It’s also likely that Romo is waived, which means that he’ll be free to sign with any other NFL team. According to NFL rumors, Romo wants to join a team that can contend for a Super Bowl title. It’s not likely that he chooses a team on rebuilding.
Tony Romo has been with Dallas since 2005. He became the starting QB for the team since 2006. The last two years have been tough on Romo as he played just five games in 2015 and 2016 due to injuries. Romo is already 36 years old but NFL analysts see him playing another two to three years in the league. But for which team, is still the big question this 2017 NFL postseason.
Tony Romo Trade or Release?
In 2014, his last season when he played most of the regular season, Romo registered 3,705 passing yards on 304 of 435 passes with 34 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. Romo had an average career in Dallas leading the team to only four playoff appearances (2006, 2007, 2009 and 2014). Romo made the NFL Pro Bowl team in those years.
Tony Romo is being linked the Houston Texans or Kansas City Chiefs. The veteran is also being mentioned in NFL trade rumors involving the Denver Broncos. All three teams could use a veteran quarterback like Romo.
