With the Dallas Cowboys starting to run away with the lead from the NFC East, the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants battle Sunday afternoon in a crucial Week 9 matchup in New York.
The Eagles and Giants are both at 4-3 so far this season, tied with the Washington Redskins in the division standings.
“I think the emphasis is greater, for sure,” Eagles head coach Doug Pederson stated to ESPN knowing the importance of Sunday’s game in New York. “Teams that want to make the post-season, obviously, have to handle their division. Right now, we’ve put ourselves in a little bit of a hole.
Philadelphia is just 1-3 on the road this season and has lost three of their last four games. After the game against the Giants, they will face division leaders Arizona Atlanta Falcons (6-3) and Seattle Seahawks (4-2-1) so this will be their easiest game on the schedule in the next three games.
The Giants have responded with back-to-back wins, against the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Rams after a three-game losing streak. The game against the Eagles will be the first of a three-game home stretch that includes games against the Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago Bears.
The Eagles and Giants will meet again near the end of the season in their season series.
Prediction: Philadelphia Eagles 28, New York Giants 17
