The Meralco Bolts will try to avoid elimination on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum when they face the Ginebra Gin Kings, which is one win away from their first PBA title since 2008.

Meralco had a 2-1 series lead and had a chance for a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven championship series but allowed Ginebra to steal Game 4 and to win back-to-back games. Ginebra now has a 3-2 lead with a chance to win the title in tonight’s Game 6 or in Game 7 set on Friday.

Ginebra beat Meralco, 92-81 in Game 5 last Sunday when they held off a late Meralco rally but led almost the entire game.

“Things kind of came together for us tonight and that’s the first time in this series that’s happened where we got a little bit of defense and we got a little bit of offense together,” Tim Cone told the Philippine Daily Inquirer about their Game 5 win. “We played more of a complete game.”

Ginebra import Justin Brownlee had 29 points and 10 rebounds while Japeth Aguilar and Joe Devance added 16 and 11 points, respectively. Aguilar also had 8 rebounds and 3 shot blocks while L.A. Tenorio had 7 points and 8 assists.
