On September 28, 2015, the body of Cathriona White, an Irish beautician and makeup artist, was found dead in a home she shared with her ex-boyfriend Jim Carrey. Her friends, Dennis Bradshaw and his wife Lena, found her in bed when they visited her following their breakup but it was too late.

She last texted the actor on September 24 and they had the last 3-minute talk together. Once home, she posted “Signing off Twitter, I hope I have been a light to my nearest and dearest.” And on her Instagram account she shared a gloomy quote by W.B. Yeats:

“Faeries, come take me out of this dull world, for I would ride with you upon the wind, ride on the top of the disheveled tide, and dance upon the mountains like a flame.”

It wasn’t the first time she had attempted to take her own life. She had the tendency to be depressive and made a suicide attempt after her father’s death and on his 3rd death anniversary.

Drug bottles (Ambien, Percocet, & Propranolol) were found on her deathbed. Reports say she overdosed on prescription pills supposedly for Jim Carrey, with an alias “Arthur King.” The comedian had opened up about his battle with depression in 2004.

On the dining room table was found a suicide note where new revelations portray her despair during those times. In her letter, White starts off by asking for Carrey’s forgiveness, that she was not of this world.

“I’ve spent 3 days now in disbelief that you’re not here. I can go on brokenhearted and try to put the pieces back. I could, I just don’t have the will this time. I’m sorry you felt I wasn’t there for you. I tried to give you my best part.”

The two have been dating on and off since 2012 until they finally ended their relationship 3 days before she took her own life. Her close friends say she was still madly in love with Jim.

She further stated in her letter that she wanted her things to be sold, the proceeds given to her family. Regarding her funeral, she left it for Carrey to make the necessary decisions, saying, “I don’t really know about burial or that sort of thing. You are my family so whatever you choose will be fine.” She wrote.

Jim Carrey finally broke his silence and said, “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled.”
