The first half of the “Vikings” season 4 saw the humiliating defeat of King Ragnar Lothbrok from the hands of his brother Rollo. Rumors are swirling that Ragnar will step down as king and will let Bjorn exact revenge on Wessex when the show’s second half which airs on Nov. 30.
According to IGN, there is no bad blood between Bjorn and his brothers as they would acknowledge his leadership. In fact, Floki is ready to follow Bjorn in making King Ecbert of Wessex pay for betraying them. A trailer would show that the Vikings managed to gather in numbers to avenge their brethren.
Aside from Bjorn and Floki, Rollo is to make a guest appearance this season to acknowledge his nephew’s reign as King of the Vikings. Though it is not clear how Rollo team up with the Vikings, especially after the battle in Paris. But it is clear that Bjorn and the Vikings plan to make Wessex pay for their crimes.
As Bjorn rises as the new leader of the Vikings, Ragnar steps down and chooses to mentor his son Ivar the boneless. Ivar has always found a special place in Ragnar’s heart to the point that he will teach his son to kill his enemies without using his legs.
“I feel like it always feels like he’s let down or he doesn’t have the support of the people anymore,” Travis Fimmel said of his character. “He doesn’t know who to trust. The reason is not what he thought he was doing it for. Everything that’s occurring is not why he started doing these adventures. It’s all for different reasons now — other people’s reasons, not Ragnar’s reasons. So he’s lost the beauty. He feels like the beauty of it’s all gone.”
The second half of Season 4 will see more of Bjorn’s adventure into Wessex while Season 5 will see the rise of Ivar and how he will overachieve Ragnar before his father dies. Speculations that “Vikings” the series will continue with stories of Ragnar’s sons with Lagertha and Aslaug be included in the storyline.
