La Liga giant Barcelona is rumored to be interested in signing Real Madrid star James Rodriguez in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Catalan side is extremely interested in bringing the Colombian to Camp Nou and is willing to spend a transfer fee in excess of £70 million ($87m) to make it happen.

Barcelona is intent on signing further world class talents in the upcoming summer transfer window. They want to challenge Real Madrid for the title as well as the Champions League. Hence, they have set their sights on signing a player from Los Blancos itself.

Lionel Messi wants James Rodriguez at Barcelona

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is reportedly a huge admirer of James Rodriguez. The Argentine has urged the Barcelona management to pursue with the signing, according to Spanish TV station El Chiringuito.

Messi has reportedly urged the Colombian to leave Real Madrid in December. The Argentina international captain is interested in working with Rodriguez at Camp Nou.

Rodriguez is the second Real Madrid player in recent times after Isco to be linked with a transfer to Barcelona. However, the interest on the Spaniard has cooled off recently.

Carlo Ancelotti, Bayern Munich manager, is also a huge fan of the former AS Monaco winger. The Bavarians are also linked with a summer transfer move for the Real Madrid forward. Certain sections of the media are tipping the German Bundesliga leaders to come in with a transfer bid once the current season concludes.

Rodriguez frustrated at Real Madrid

James Rodriguez is having a tough time at Los Blancos under manager Zinedine Zidane. The 25-year-old has found himself on the bench more than on the first-team this season. The Colombia international is reportedly frustrated with his life in Madrid.

The man from Cúcuta, Colombia has made just seven appearances under Zidane this season. This is despite the fact that he was promised more minutes earlier in the campaign.

Rodriguez wanted to exit the club in the January transfer window. However, he was not sold since Real Madrid was serving a transfer ban and bringing in a suitable replacement was not possible.

Luis Enrique, Barcelona manager also values the Colombia international as a star. Although the player has had a tough three years in Madrid, the Spanish gaffer believes that the forward has enough potential to succeed in Camp Nou.

Barcelona currently lies second in the La Liga table, 2 points behind leaders Real Madrid. However, the Catalan giants have played a game more than their rivals. They are set to travel to Malaga next on April 8.
